 Albert’s Words

Micro Tale

(Written by Stephanie, using Albert’s words)

The PLEAT that he carefully pressed into his pants every morning, belied how STALE he found his life and routine. He missed when his life had purpose and meaning - working with a piece of wood on his LATHE, creating a beautiful and functional vessel based on what the wood told him. He missed coming home to her perfect LATKEs, that he’d top with sour cream and her homemade applesauce. His gnarled, arthritic hands made it impossible to continue to create, and her applesauce was long gone, even though he had been careful and judicious with the last jars. Sighing, he stepped out of his house and walked to the coffee shop, as he did every morning, as much to watch the “baristas” create a LATTE or fancy coffee-based drink, as it was for the simple, rich black coffee and breakfast sandwich he ordered. Maybe he’d be adventurous  and try something new one of these days, he thought…

Micro Tale

(Written by Stephanie, using Albert’s words)

She didn’t want to STOKE the fire and escalate things into a verbal war, where they would TRADE insults that they would later regret. She wanted a MATTE  finish, and he wanted an eggshell finish. Somehow it didn’t seem worth getting all excited about. Eventually, they decided to just go out for a LATTE and flip a coin.
